Go Ahead, New Bus Depot
ACEDA were successfully appointed to design, supply and install a turnkey security solution, Intercom and networking infrastructure at a new bus depot in Hownsgill Industrial Park, Consett. As leading systems integrators, ACEDA worked alongside key project stakeholders to delivery an innovate solution that met the client requirements, budget and timescales.
THE CLIENT:
The Go-Ahead Group PLC has been established since the 1980’s and is one of the UK’s leading public transport providers. With plans to invest further into the Northeast of England, Go-Ahead commissioned a £3.5m purpose built, state of the art bus depot that will house 63 of the 700 buses operating in the region. The new facility has many environmental friendly and energy saving features and will create 20 additional jobs for people within the local area. The Engineer friendly workshop has been designed to offer a flexible and efficient working environment with anti-spill oil, air and water systems in place.
THE CHALLENGE:
The new bus depot spans across a large area and has many functions. ACEDA tailored a solution that met all of the various business requirements from IT Network Infrastructure to bespoke IP surveillance monitoring systems. The installed solution is scalable and can adapt to and future growth requirements or upgrades in technology.
ACEDA’S SOLUTION:
ACEDA worked with the client to fully understand the operational, security and infrastructure requirements of the new bus depot facility. Following several client consultations, ACEDA’s design team produced a detailed proposal of the solution which was accepted by the Go-Ahead Group.
In order to facilitate the network requirements of the IP security system, ACEDA installed a Category 6 UTP cabling solution with fibre optic cabling to each of the external camera locations. All cabling was routed back to the centralised comms cabinet ready to be commissioned by the IT team.
The IP CCTV solution provided surveillance of the building, workshop and parking facilities. The solution operates on a closed secure network and is fully IP based which allows users to securely login and view the system remotely. The system is operated through a dedicated PC workstation where images can be viewed, monitored and downloaded, the system can be remotely monitored via the client’s corporate network and VMS software.
A Bespoke monitoring facility was integrated into the IP CCTV system, the dedicated monitoring equipment allowed members of staff to operate machinery safely, the system has proven to be a valuable asset ensuring high standard of health and safety for members of staff.
Due to the size and purpose of the facility, ACEDA designed an access control and intercom system for key areas of the building including the reception area and workshop. The IP enabled system allows the client to control the system via a software platform. Upon completion, ACEDA provided the client with system training, an Operations & Maintenance manual, NSI Compliance Certificates and all relevant signage to comply with current legislation.
THE RESULT:
ACEDA designed and installed an integrated, fit for purpose solution that is now used every day at the new bus depot in Consett. Throughout the project, ACEDA worked with various parties such as consultants, the main contractor and other trades to seamlessly coordinate works onsite. Technical Account Director, Michael Lynch said, “this flagship project demonstrates our ability to work with the client from the initial design stage of a project to produce a solution that is completely bespoke to their requirements. Throughout the project, our Engineers have worked as a team to maintain ACEDA’s high standard of installation practices.”
As part of our turnkey solutions, ACEDA now support and maintain the IP Security System at the new depot to prolong the lifecycle of the equipment.
